NORTH MOZAMBIQUE: PEMBA: QUIRIMBAS ARCHIPELAGO: THE FACTS:
Pemba also is reasonably accessible but only by flights from Maputo and Johannesburg. Just off the Pemba coastline lies the Quirimbas Archipelago. This little known Archipelago consists of 37 coral islands stretching from Pemba in the south to the Rovuma River in the north. Also not a "hammock and camping" destination! When flying to resorts that are accessed from Inhambane, Vilanculos or Pemba please remember that you are restricted to 12 Kgs (per person in a soft bag). With the result we suggest that you just bring your mask and reg and hire all the other stuff from the resort. The rental gear at all the popular resorts is in extremely good condition and is serviced regularly. Computers and re-breathers are not available for hire in Mozambique.
Other than the main dive sites mentioned abov, the entire Mozambique coast is covered by coral reefs and the most exciting diving imaginable, the only problem is to get to them and once you are there you need all the gear, boats, compressors, equipment etc.
So diving Mozambique is unique, the majority of sites are inaccessible and it's by and large expensive.
