Plains Camp consists of 4 luxury en suite tents and most of your game viewing is done on foot with your armed ranger and tracker. However after the afternoon walk, just before sunset, you will meet the open 4x4 Land Rover and continue your game viewing from the relative safely of the vehicle while you look for the nocturnal animals with the aid of a powerful spot-lamp. This unique combination gives you the best that nature has to offer. Getting up close and personal in the safari vehicle and getting at one with Africa's "Big 5" (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant) - on foot!! You will arrive back at camp at about 20h00, depending on animal activity, and dinner is served under the African stars beside a roaring log fire. Overnight at Plains Camp on a fully inclusive basis. www.zulunet.co.za and click on Rhino Walking Safaris.
Day 11:
Full day on safari in Kruger. You will set off on foot at day break for your early morning walking safari. The walks are never more than a 4 hour duration and the distance that you walk is approx. 6 000 meters or the length of an 18 hole golf course. You will return to camp at about 09h00 for 'brunch". All walks are conducted in the early morning and late afternoon, during the coolest part of the day, when the animals are most active. The heat of the day is spent relaxing around the pool in camp. At about 16h30 you will again set off on foot with your armed ranger and African tracker looking for the Big 5 and the smaller animals that you miss when sitting in a Land Rover. Just before sunset you will rendezvous with the Land Rover for “sundowners” (cocktails while you watch the sun set over the African bush). You then continue on into the nigh looking for the nocturnal animals with the spot-lamp. Overnight at Plains Camp on a fully inclusive basis.
Day 12:
Anther magic day spent in the company of the residents of the Kruger National Park. After the morning walk and brunch the heat of the day is spent by the pool. When it starts to cool down you will set off on foot for what could be the most exciting "sleep-out" of your life!! The walk will take 2 hours and your destination is the "sleep out platform" built high up in the branches of a 500 year old Leadwood Tree forest. Closer to nature you cannot get. On arrival at the platform your ranger and tracker will light the fire while you relax sipping a "Castle Larger" and watch the sun set and witness the African bush come alive with sound, smell and stars. Dinner will be a traditional South African "braai" and after dinner you will sit in awe listening to the nocturnal animals as they call to one another. There is nothing on earth more thought provoking and inspiring than the sound of a lion roaring or the mournful call of the spotted hyena. When it's time to go to bed you'll lie in your sleeping bag under the stars which will be so close and bright that you feel you could pluck them out of the night sky. It is a privilege to sleep out on the platform and it will be a memory that will be with you always. Overnight at the "sleep out platform" in Kruger on a fully inclusive basis.
Day 13:
You will be woken by the call of the Natal Francolin and you will witness the dawn of another African day. After coffee and rusks you will return to Plains Camp for breakfast before being transferred back to Rhino Post where Dive The Big 5 will collect you for the return transfer back to KMIA. You will then board the 1 hour domestic flight to Johannesburg International where, after a short lay-over you will connect with your return flight home, own arrangements.
