The combination gives the visitor a complete African bush experience. After settling into your luxury thatched chalet you will join the afternoon game drive, which departs camp at 17h00, during the game drive you will stop to watch the sun go down on the African bush while enjoying sundowners. Depending on game activity you will return to camp at around 20:00 for dinner in the "Boma" under the African stars and in front of a roaring log fire. After breakfast, you will have the rest of the morning at your leisure to relax in the camp or go for a game walk with your armed ranger or go down to the water-hole and watch the game come down to drink during the heat of the day, or just "chill out" around the pool, before enjoying lunch and setting off on the afternoon safari. Overnight Rhino Post on a fully inclusive basis.
Day 12:
After early morning tea and coffee and a light breakfast you will set off on foot over the African plains which are teeming with game with your armed ranger and tracker. Your destination, Plains Camp. On arrival at Plains Camp you will settle into your luxury “tents”. When the day starts cooling down, at about 16h00 you will set off on foot looking for Africa's "Big 5" with your armed ranger and tracker. This is an experience not to be missed and is privilege to only a few. All walking trails in Kruger are restricted to a maximum of 8 people per group under the guidance of an experienced ranger and local "native" tracker. This is by no means an endurance test and the pace is set by the slowest member of the group. The terrain over which you walk is flat and each walk is about the length of an 18 hole golf course and takes about 4 hours with many stops en route to examine spoor, droppings and the smaller things that you miss whilst being in a vehicle. As the sun is setting you will rendezvous with the Land Rover for "sun-downers" and then carry on with your game viewing in the Land Rover looking for the nocturnal animals with the aid of a powerful spot-lamp. Depending on animal activity you will return to camp at about 20h00 for dinner under the stars beside a roaring log fire. Overnight at Plains Camp on a fully inclusive basis..
Day 13:
Another magic day spent in the African bush. You will be woken for tea or coffee before setting off with your ranger and tracker. You will return to camp before the sun gets to hot for brunch. The remainder of the day is spent in camp cooling off around the pool whilst you watch the animals come down to the water-hole to quench their thirst. When the day starts to cool down again you set off once more on the late afternoon game walk and night drive in the Land Rover. Overnight at Plains Camp on a fully inclusive basis.
Day 14.:
This could very well be the high-light of your African Safari. A night spent on the "Sleep-out platform" under the stars in the wilds of Africa. The platform is a 2 hour casual walk from Plains Camp. On arrival the fires will have been lit and it will be time to relax with Africa's national drink, a G&T whilst your ranger prepares your dinner of a traditional South African "Braai". The night is spent at tree top level on the open platform with all the African night sounds to lull you to sleep. The call of the hyena and if you are really lucky the call of the lion will make the words - "I dreamt of Africa" - a reality!
Day 15:
After tea, coffee and rusks you will walk back to Plains Camp for brunch and a shower before being transferred back to Rhino Post. You will be collected from Rhino Post by Dive The Big 5 at 11h00 for the return transfer to the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport where you will board flight SA 8133 for the return 1 hour flight to Johannesburg. You will arrive in Johannesburg at 16h05 and walk the short distance to International Departures where you will board your return flight to the States.
