Day 01. 2008 thru to October 31: Arrive Johannesburg International Airport, own arrangements. After clearing customs and immigration you will transfer to the domestic departures hall in the airport complex and connect with the 1 hour domestic flight to the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA), own arrangements. On arrival at KMIA you will be met by Dive The Big 5 for the 2 hour road transfer to the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, and Notten's Bush Camp. The Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park Conservancy which means that there are no fences between the Sabi Sand and Kruger so that the animals are free to move between these two wildlife sanctuary’s. You will arrive at Notten's in time for "high-tea" after which you will board the "open" safari vehicles for the afternoon / evening game drive which departs camp at about 16:00. At sunset you will stop somewhere in the bush for sun-downers before continuing on into the night looking for the nocturnal animals with the aid of a powerful spot lamp. Depending on the animal activity you will return to camp at about 20:30 for dinner in the "boma", around a roaring log fire, under the African stars. Overnight at Notten's Bush Camp on a fully inclusive basis. (All meals and game activities) www.nottens.com
Day 02. 2008 thru to October 31: Full day on safari, spent game viewing in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. You will be woken by the beat of African Drums for early morning, tea and coffee which is served at the Lodge before venturing out for the early morning game drive. Again, depending on the animal activity we will return to camp at about 09:00 for breakfast. After breakfast you are free to enjoy the tranquillity of the African Bush. You can either go for a bush walk in "Big 5" country with your armed Ranger & Tracker, let on the deck and watch the game come down to drink at a nearby water hole during the heat of the day, spend the time bird watching in and around the camp or just laze by the pool. After high-tea you will again set out for the afternoon/evening game drive. Overnight at Notten's Bush Camp on a fully inclusive basis.
Day 03. 2008 thru to October 31: Another "magic" day spent in wildest Africa enjoying the peace and tranquillity and personal service that only one of South Africa's top lodges such as Notten's can offer. Overnight at Notten's Bush Camp on a fully inclusive basis.
Day 04. 2008 thru to October 31: After the early morning game drive and breakfast you will be collected from Notten's by Dive The Big 5 for the return transfer to KMIA where you will board the 90 minute direct flight to Inhambane on the Mozambique coast, own arrangements. After clearing customs and immigration (Visas are obtainable on arrival in Inhambane) you will be met by Barra Lodge for the short road transfer through coconut plantations and coastal dune forests to the resort. Rest of the day free. Overnight at Barra Lodge on a dinner bad and breakfast basis. www.barraresorts.com and click on Barra Lodge
Day's 05. 2008 thru to October 31: 2 x dives on the reefs off the Mozambique coast, weather permitting. The best way to see Whale Sharks is to trawl the back-line and look for the tell-tail tail fin of this massive beast but because the diving is so spectacular and on your way to and from the reef you are bound to "bump" into Whale Sharks we suggest that you schedule 2 dives a day whilst at Barra. When you do spot a Whale Shark the skipper will drop you off in front of the animal allowing it to swim up to you. The best way to "dive" with Whale Sharks is on snorkel as the exhaust bubbles from your regulator, if on scuba, often frightens the animals away. When diving at Barra we always schedule one dive on the far our reefs with the second dive on a nearby "house reef". As Whale Sharks are most commonly found close in-shore just behind the back-line you are likely to encounter these animals on your boat ride to and from your dive. Overnight at Barra Lodge on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.
Day 06. 2008 thru to October 31: Two more dives on the reefs off Barra Lodge, weather permitting. Again one dive scheduled on a far reef, +- 25 km’s from the launch site and the second on a close by house reef. The rest of the day spent in paradise in Moz. Overnight at Barra Lodge on a dinner bed and breakfast basis.
Day 07. 2008 thru to October 31: After breakfast, Barra Lodge will transfer you back to Inhambane Airport where you will board the return flight to Johannesburg International, own arrangements. End of services.
